Child CustodyHow to share your children during a separation and after your divorce can be one of the most difficult issues our clients face. Our attorneys will explain to you every option available to share your child(ren) as you separate from your spouse. There are two aspects of custody to consider: legal custody and physical custody. Legal custody allows parents to make decisions regarding the health, education and welfare of their child(ren). The vast majority of people share joint legal custody of their child(ren). In certain circumstances, the parties or the court determine only one parent should make legal custody decisions. Physical custody is a determination of how parents share their child(ren)'s time during each week, weekend, on holidays, and vacations. There are various "standard" physical custody arrangements we can explain to you. However, in many circumstances, we are able to work with parties to create customized physical custody arrangements that work best for your child(ren). Each of our attorneys work with many specially skilled professionals to assist you and your child(ren). We work with therapists, custody evaluators, parenting coordinators and other experts to help you and your children through the divorce process and to craft a parenting plan that is best for them. |
